Digital sustainability research stream focuses on the role that digital technologies (such as big data analytics, blockchain, internet-of-things) play in achieving sustainability in organisations.
- On the one hand, digital technologies can be harnessed to enable sustainable business models, protect the environment, create positive social impact as well as help organisations in tracking and managing sustainability progress.
- On the other hand, digital technologies present risks to sustainability and raise concerns about data privacy and human rights violations, surveillance, algorithmic discrimination as well as their environmental footprint.
Within digital sustainability research stream, we continuously monitor regulatory developments and apply scientific methods to understand how organisations can harness digital technology to become more sustainable while reducing new technology-related risks.
